Reflections by Dr Lyndon Bouah – 25th anniversary of the readmission of South Africa into the FIDE family

Today 22 June 2017 is the 25th anniversary of the readmission of South Africa into the FIDE family. South Africa had been suspended in 1974 at the Olympiad in Nice. And now on 22 June 1992 South Africa was readmitted to FIDE together with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan,Kyrgystan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Croatia, , Bosnia and Herzogovina and Slovenia. Mozambique was admitted as a provisional member. So very esteemed company indeed.
