The event ended on 14 April. Two of our players FM Calvin Klaasen and CM Roland Bezuidenhout ended on 6/9. On tiebreak Klaasen took the bronze as FM Khetho had more wins. Roland came fifth on tiebreak which is a great performance by both players.

Round 7 Heartache for Klaasen and Joy for Megan in round seven. It was a tough one to Klaasen when he lost to Pedro. Domingos beat Paiva to co-lead with Owdro on 5.5 De Villiers won and Roland scored his sixth draw. Bhawoodien played the back marker Botao and won.
Many players will be competing in the African Individuals in Zambia which will take place from 12-24 May. So the key is to try to peak at the events at the right time. You may have a bad event now but then later come back and peak at the right time.
Women Section: 1. WFM Mwango beat WIM Caxita on top board to maintain her lead. She now has 4.5/5 going into round 6. 2. Megan Van Niekerk scored a good draw against WIM Jesse February. Megan has been playing solidly over the last few months.

Mozambique has hosted a number of top events in the last decade. My two fondest memories are the Zone 4.3 team Championships which was held in 2008. In this event South Africa won the team championship on game points after Burundi took one point off against Angola.
